No, David!
-
Author/Illustrator: David Shannon
-
Publisher: Blue Sky Press
-
Publication Year: 1998
-
Brief Summary: In what David Shannon has said to be an autobiographical book about his childhood, David gets into all sort of trouble as only little 3- and 4-year-old children can: sneaking cookies out of the cookie jar, playing with his food, digging for gold, and running naked down the street. After being told “No” numerous times, a sorry David gets a hug from his mom and is reassured that he is loved no matter what.

Ideas for using this book in classroom or library:
-
Class Big Book — each child makes a page about something they do at school that their teacher/librarian may say no to…have them illustrate it, write “No, _____!” laminate, and bind. Could be about library rules, done in the beginning of the school year. Make the last page ahead of time to add to the kids’ pages — end on a positive note…something like, “Yes, class, I will read you another story!” or something like that.
